There are seven (7) primary divisions in Gain Green, from seedlings production to plantation and other secondary activities such as corporate administration and finance.
Gain Green Development Sdn Bhd, the subsidiary of Gain Green, specializes in the commercial propagation of plants in-vitro, also known as plant tissue culture. Its team is one of Malaysia’s leading contract plant propagation professionals, with expertise in the mass-scale production of high-quality tissue culture plants, exclusively committed to providing the best quality, value and service.
The tissue culture laboratory is made up of a team of plant scientists, who are also part of the Research & Development (R&D). The Company strategically connects the R&D operational system in tissue culture laboratory for more effective production, with total commitment to developing, applying and transferring relevant scientific knowledge. Useful research findings and technologies to increase the tissue culture yields quality by delivering the superior plant class to the customers and farmers.
The Company’s headquarters laboratory is located at Setia Alam, with the capacity to produce approximately 200,000 explants per month, while another branch lab located in Technology Park Malaysia produces 50,000 explants per month.
The nursery plays a significant role in the production process, and it includes two key stages: the acclimatization process and the hardening process in the greenhouse. An acclimatization process is required for most species grown in in-vitro, as it guarantees that a sufficient quantity of plants will survive and grow dynamically and healthy when transplanted.
The nursery is located in Tanjong Malim, Perak, with the present capacity to accommodate a minimum of 1,000,000 hardened seedlings in the greenhouse unit. It is ready for expansion from time to time, depending on the market demand.
The Company is regularly involved in R&D in the acclimatization unit to increase the survival rate of in vitro explants before transplantation. The R&D covers all levels of this process, from biodegradable polybag use, planting medium to enhance the growth rate, automation to add increased efficiency and productivity, plant disease management to prevent contamination etc.
United Paulownia Plantation Sdn Bhd is the subsidiary of Gain Green, specialized in Plantation Management. The Plantation Division includes all processes from the land preparation to the trees’ maturity, using a scientific plantation approach, systematic management and digitization. The digitalization implementation in plantation has an enormous impact in ensuring and maintaining sustainability practices, as it helps plantations become more efficient, less dependent on manual labour, and easier to supervise.
There are basic procedures to follow when establishing a new plantation to guarantee the plantation’s longterm success. The Company has professional planning team site inspectors responsible for the preliminary preparation and planning, limiting unnecessary slowdowns during the implementation phase. The land preparation procedure involves land selection based on several essential factors, physical land preparation (terracing, infrastructure, clearance etc.), soil improvement, hole preparation etc.
The most valuable asset in a plantation company is having the right types of modern equipment and machinery, as well as a team of experienced workers who are ready to deliver based on the plantation’s specifications and requirements.
The Company farm workers are very well trained and skilled, and they work according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) in carrying out farming and maintenance works on the trees during the period of their growth.
A scientific approach is used in setting up the SOPs after identifying the best plant spacing, planting time, and depth, followed by the aftercare process such as the fertilization schedule, pruning, weeding, pest control etc.
The Company quality control experts keep close observation and monitoring on the plantation to detect and, when necessary, fix any unfavorouble situations, using drone technology, soil and leaf analysis, pest and disease management, etc.
The safety of the working environment and the worker’s health and welfare are paramount to the Company management.
The development of the Tree harvesting unit is to ensure the best approach in harvesting operations for the soil, waterways, wildlife, landscape protection, and also the investment of minimum resources to achieve the best output.
A special unit was established to search for the potential wood markets of the Paulownia wood and get involved with industry companies and experts on wood processing and improve technology for wood products and application diversification.
This unit is involved in the wood processing technology and the production of the different categories of the raw wood materials, such as Roundwood products, Sawn wood (primary lumber), Veneer, Plywood and Laminated wood, Particleboard, Fibreboard, and Pulp and Paper. It also includes a treatment technology (drying and preservation) formulated to improve the wood in use and the chemical products derivated or extracted from wood. People can use some of the products from primary manufacturers directly, but many constitute intermediate materials require additional processing before they become secondary products, such as furniture, containers, musical instruments, building structures and components.
The Company is cooperating in a joint venture with other partners to produce bio compost and develop fertilizer technology for agricultural, environmental protection technology development and recycling of waste.
The goal of Gain Green is to achieve zero waste in the plantation. The Company ventures to into the applications of smaller branches or trunks which cannot be exploited for timber purposes, such as biochar which is utilized for plantation land that leads to carbon sequestration, biomass, wood pellets, wood chips, interior design, wood crafts and souvenirs etc.
The Company provides its services in establishing a new tissue culture laboratory. Its team of experts is ready to assist you, starting from purchasing the laboratory equipment and tools, creating laboratory layout design and renovation, offering laboratory technician training, laboratory compliance advice, etc.
Furthermore, the Company creates a joint venture with a few organizations to set up branch production laboratory (“branch lab”) in East Malaysia, Indonesia, and India for Revotropix Paulownia seedlings production. There are currently five branch labs that have been set up successfully and operate in 1) Limbang, 2) Sibu and 3) Kuching, 4) India and 5) Indonesia.
